1. Introduction

The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) is launched in Senegal since 2022.
JDS is now inviting potential applicants who understand its aims and are interested in 2-year master's degree program at Japanese accepting universities for the academic year 2024-2025.
The program will be instructed in English.
The number of dispatches is 10 per year.

Le projet de bourse de développement des ressources humaines (JDS) a été lancé au Sénégal en 2022.
JDS cherche des candidats potentiels qui comprennent les objectifs du projet et qui sont intéressés par un programme de Master de 2 ans dans des universités japonaises pour l'année académique 2023-2024.
Le programme sera enseigné en anglais.
Le nombre de places est de 10 par an.

2. Applicant Eligibility / Eligibilité des candidats

Nationality	Citizens of the Republic of Senegal
Age	Between the age of 22 and 45 as of April 1st, 2024 (Born on/after April 2nd, 1978 and born on/before April 1st, 2002)
Academic Background	Possess a Bachelor's degree from universities authorized by the Government of Senegal or other countries. 16 years of formal education is required (in principle), however, relevant academic/research career or working experience can be considered as the alternative to meet the requirement.
Occupation	Civil Servants
Working Experience	Applicants MUST; Be a Government (permanent) employee in the target organizations. Have 4 years or more of work experience at his/her belonging organizations. The work experiences shall be related to applying 'Sub-Program' / 'Component', at the time of application. (Part time jobs and volunteer activities are not counted as work experience). [Applicants to Tropical course for Nagasaki Univ.] Have at least 2 years of clinical experience as a medical doctor

English Proficiency	Have a good command of both written and spoken English. TOEFL iBT score of 61 or IELTS score of 5.0 or higher is preferable (not required) JDS Project Office will arrange IELTS Academic test for those who do not have valid score.
Health Condition	Mentally and physically in good health. Note: Applicants need to take and pass all medical check-up prior to the technical interview. This medical check-up is arranged by JDS Project Office. Applicant who cannot take or pass all medical check-up will be disqualified from JDS scholarship.
Ineligibility	A person corresponds to the following is not eligible to apply Has been awarded or scheduled to receive other scholarship (including other scholarships of Japan). Has been awarded any scholarship for Master's degree in foreign countries. Military personnel registered on the active list or a person on alternative military service.
Others	Successful Candidates are required to submit a pledge on the conditions deemed necessary as scholarship participants under the JDS Project. JDS Fellows are obliged to return to Senegal upon completing the degree program and work for at least four (4) years in their organization in order to make a contribution to the development of Senegal and to the friendly relations between Senegal and Japan. Female officers are encouraged to apply.

Condition Médicale	En bonne santé mentale et physique. Les candidats doivent passer et réussir tous les examens médicaux avant l'entretien technique. Cette visite médicale est organisée par le bureau de projet JDS. Les candidats qui ne peuvent pas passer tous les examens médicaux seront exclus de la bourse JDS.
Ineligibility	Une personne correspondant aux éléments suivants n'est pas éligible à la candidature A obtenu ou est censée obtenir une autre bourse. A obtenu une bourse de Master dans un pays étranger. Personnel militaire inscrit sur la liste active ou personne en service militaire alternatif.
Autres	Les candidats retenus sont tenus de présenter un engagement sur les conditions jugées nécessaires en tant que boursiers dans le cadre du projet JDS. Les boursiers JDS sont tenus de retourner au Sénégal après avoir terminé le programme de diplôme et de travailler pendant au moins quatre (4) ans dans leur organisation afin d'apporter une contribution au développement du Sénégal et aux relations amicales entre le Sénégal et le Japon.

Les documents de candidature ne seront pas renvoyés (veuillez conserver une copie de vos documents).
Les documents de candidature contenant de fausses déclarations ou du plagiat seront immédiatement disqualifiés.
Le résultat de chaque sélection sera annoncé uniquement aux candidats retenus par le bureau de JICE pour le projet JDS.
En principe, les motifs des résultats de la sélection ne seront pas divulgués.

5. Research Plan / Plan de Recherche

In the JDS selections, each candidate will be evaluated on her/his academic abilities enough to pursue the master program in Japan as well as the potential of the future contribution to the country. Thus, it is highly recommended to explain that the objective of your research plan be in connection with the development issues under the applying Component, and to rationalize how the study will be addressed in accordance with the career path, corresponding to the current position and responsibility in the belonging organization.
It is also recommended to study your applying university to make sure if the curriculums of the university and fields of specialization of faculty members are relevant to your research.
Remember that plagiarizing somebody's work or websites are strongly prohibited.
Please refer to 'Tips on Application and Selection (Reference)' and 'Guidelines for Writing a Research Plan' in the Application Guideline for more information.

Dans le cadre de la sélection des boursiers JDS, chaque candidat sera évalué sur ses capacités académiques pour poursuivre le programme de master au Japon ainsi que sur le potentiel de sa future contribution au pays. Ainsi, il est fortement recommandé d'expliquer que l'objectif de votre plan de recherche est en rapport avec les questions de développement dans le cadre de la composante qui vous concerne, et de rationaliser la manière dont l'étude sera abordée en fonction du plan de carrière, correspondant à la position et à la responsabilité actuelles dans votre organisation d'appartenance.
Il est également recommandé de se renseigner sur l'université à laquelle vous postulez afin de s'assurer que les programmes d'études de l'université et les domaines de spécialisation des membres du corps professoral sont pertinents pour votre recherche.
N'oubliez pas que le plagiat du travail ou des sites Web de quelqu'un est strictement interdit.

7. English & Math Exam / Examen d'anglais et de Maths

Every qualified applicant will be required to take English proficiency test (IELTS) as well as math test in Dakar in mid to end of March, 2024 (Nagasaki University) or early April, 2024 (universities other than Nagasaki University).

IELTS Academic consists of 4 parts with 'Listening (4 sections)' for about 30 minutes, 'Reading (40 questions)' for 60 minutes, 'Writing (2 tasks)' for 60 minutes, and 'Speaking'.

Math test of around 60 minutes consists of Arithmetic operations, Solving fractions, Equations, Inequality, Matrix, Basic quadratic functions, Basic operations of exponential and logarithmic functions, Basic Integral and Differentiation, etc.IE

The scores will be reviewed on the 1st selection by the accepting universities. Universities may require the applicants to have good command of English skill (TOEFL iBT score of 61, IELTS score of 5.0 or higher) and numeracy skills. Please be well prepared for the exams.

Chaque candidat qualifié devra passer un test de compétence en anglais (IELTS) ainsi qu'un test de mathématiques à Dakar entre le mi et la fin mars 2024 (Université de Nagasaki) ou début avril 2024 (universités autres que l'Université de Nagasaki).

Les scores seront examinés lors de la première sélection par les universités choisies . Les universités peuvent exiger des candidats une bonne maîtrise de l'anglais (score TOEFL iBT de 61, score IELTS de 5.0 ou plus) et des compétences en mathématiques. Veuillez-vous préparer aux examens.
