JDS returned fellow was appointed as Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Japan!

In April 2023, JDS Vietnam returned fellow, H.E. Mr. Pham Quang Hieu, was inaugurated as Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Japan and in the Republic of Marshall Islands. After returning from Japan, he served as Assistant to the Minister, Director general of the Personnel and Organization Department and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam before assuming his current position.

JDS alumnus was appointed Deputy Minister, Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan​

On March 2, 2023, by Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan No. 93, H.E. Mr. Nazar Aziz Savzali (Graduate School of International Relations, International University of Japan, graduated in 2014) was appointed Deputy Minister, Ministry of Industry and New Technologies.​

JDS returned fellow was appointed as Secretary of State of the Ministry of Civil Service in Cambodia!

In October 2022, Mr. Huot Synead was appointed as Secretary of State of the Ministry of Civil Service in Cambodia. As a JDS fellow, he studied at Yokohama National University, the Graduate School of International Social Sciences and earned a master’s degree in 2008. After return to Cambodia, he was promoted to Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Civil Service in 2019, and now appointed to Secretary of State.

Follow-up events

JICE Co-Hosted JDS Philippines 20th Anniversary

JICE and JICA co-hosted the JDS 20th Anniversary Event held on October 6 and 7, 2022, supported by Embassy of Japan in the Philippines. The members of the Operating Committee from the National Economic and Development Authority and the Civil Service Commission also celebrated the milestone of the human capital development of the country.

JDS Alumni members, mainly the members of JICA Alumni Association of the Philippines (JAAP) took a great initiative to make this event come true, coordinating with JICA and JICE for several months.

This 2-day event with the theme entitled ”Harnessing Knowledge and Experience to Navigate the New Normal” was kicked off with the JDS Conference, featuring JDS Alumni panelists presented their current studies on “Peace Building, Growth and Inclusivity” and “Climate Change, Resilience and Sustainability” and shared their insights with the alumni audiences, which stimulated the active opinion exchanges beyond JDS Batches(the Groups by year in Japan).
